Description: The National Collegiate Space Project of the Year Award was presented to the Project: Daedalus Sub-Orbital Hybrid Rocket Program at the 2008 Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) National SpaceVision Conference held at Texas A&M University. This award is given to the best individual collegiate space project of the last year. Eligible projects should be ambitious endeavors, educational, were in line with the SEDS Mission Statement, and have had an inspiration affect on the local community. Project: Daedalus is an attempt to become the first ever independent student group to launch a rocket into space. It is led by Executive Director Michael P. Green under the guidance of Dr. Yunjun Xu.

The UCF Libraries and UCF URJ (along with its hosting program, the Office of Undergraduate Research) share a mission to foster undergraduate research and study in all fields, and this award celebrates exemplary undergraduate research from a wide range of student scholarship. The essays published in each volume of the UCF URJ are eligible for this award, and the winner is selected by a subcommittee of the UCF URJ Editorial Board. Essays are judged for their originality, quality, and the contribution they make to their respective fields of study.
