Dr. Hamann (Ph.D. Washington University) is Professor in the Department of Political Science. She is one of the university-wide SoTL winners (2005). She has widely published in her field of Spanish politics and comparative political economy as well as in the field of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She serves on the editorial board (founding member) of the Journal of Political Science Education, and served as the Feature Editor for Teaching for Politics & Policy. Dr. Hamann’s book, Assessment in Political Science (with Michelle Deardorff and John Ishiyama) will be published by the American Political Science Association in spring of 2008. She has facilitated SoTL in her discipline by serving as the division co-chair for the Undergraduate Education section of the APSA meeting, and through her leadership role at the national APSA Teaching and Learning Conference.

Dr. Grauerholz is a professor of sociology and editor of her discipline’s flagship SoTL journal: Teaching Sociology. As one of the full-time faculty members involved on the team, Dr. Graueholz will consult with other faculty who are designing and teaching research-based courses. She also brings expertise in the area of research design and analysis, and will be one of the individuals involved in assessment of the project.

Dr. Morrison-Shetlar is Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Professor of Biology. She previously served as Director of the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. She brings expertise in providing faculty with professional development opportunities in a teaching, learning and research to the project. She has written a book Teaching Creatively: Ideas in Action and has given over a hundred presentations and workshops, nationally and internationally on the integration of effective teaching strategies and assessment, the development of portfolios as assessment tools, and in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Dr. Morrison-Shetlar is executive co-chair of the Southern Regional Faculty and Instructional Development Consortium (SRFIDC) and recently established and is executive chair of the Florida Faculty Development consortium (FFDC).

Dr. Schell serves as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. He has been instrumental in developing the undergraduate research initiative at UCF and has contributed to the efforts of Dr. Morrison-Shetlar and the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning in the development of SoTL. Schell has a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University and served as Chair and Assistant Dean at the University of Arkansas Little Rock before joining UCF as Chair of English in 1987. He has published in his fields of English romantic literature, technical writing, and business writing; written numerous grants, including an $880,000 Ronald McNair Scholars proposal; and has served as a writing consultant for many business, industry, and government groups.

Dr. Wang is a Professor of Psychology and has authored numerous SoTL publications and presentations. Most recently, his SoTL research involves the identification of effective pedagogical techniques, particularly as they relate to web-based instruction. Dr. Wang was UCF’s nominee for the Boyer International Award for Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology at the 2001 Annual meeting of the International Conference on College Teaching and Learning. As Dean of The Burnett Honors College, Dr. Wang oversees some of the most active programs that support undergraduate research at UCF. These include the Honors in the Major Program, and the Student Mentor Academic Research Team (SMART) Program.

Mr. Harrison has been an Associate Librarian in the reference services department of the UCF Libraries since April 2001. During the 2003-2004 academic year, he served as a Senior Faculty Fellow in the Provost's office, working with the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Undergraduate Studies on a variety of undergraduate research initiatives, including the coordination of UCF's first Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence. Mr. Harrison is a member of the UCF Undergraduate Research Council and UCF's NSSE Academic Rigor Working Group. He holds a B.A. in English from The College of Wooster, Ohio, and the M.L.S. from Vanderbilt University. He will coordinate several undergraduate research events for the CASTL project.

Dr. Martin Dupuis is Assistant Dean of The Burnett Honors College. With a law degree from The American University and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, he is an Associate Professor in the Political Science department and a member of the Florida Bar. He earned his undergraduate degree from Albion (MI) College. He has written extensively on the legal and political issues regarding same-sex marriage, and his current research analysis is on the Barack Obama campaign for the U.S. Senate. Dr. Dupuis is the former director of Western Illinois University’s Illinois Centennial Honors College.Dr. Dupuis enjoys traveling, biking, boating, and the performing arts. He is also a season ticket holder for Golden Knights football.

Dr. Kimberly Schneider is the Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) which opened its doors at UCF in 2007. She oversees several undergraduate programs including the Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence, the Summer Research Academy, and the Undergraduate Research Journal. Dr. Schneider graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Ph.D. in Biology and continues her marine ecology research in the Department of Biology.
